EVENT - 2016 / COMBODIA
The spinal cord injury association in Cambodia (SCIAC) is working with the support from international funders and local donations for “full and equal participation for people with spinal cord injury within community and society.” They offer outreach services, provision of health care supplies, peer support group training and advocacy to support the rights for people with a spinal cord injury.
2. There is one spinal cord rehabilitation centre in Cambodia. In 2015, Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital in Norway and People with Disability Foundation (PwDF) Cambodia, started an exchange program of medical staff between the two countries to improve rehabilitations services for people with spinal cord injuries, increasing survival and quality of life for people with a spinal cord injury. The main tasks are;
working with and training the staff
SCI education
cooperation with stakeholders, NGOs, GOs, and to put focus on and improve referral systems, medical care, rehabilitation and follow up.
On 5th September there will be a local celebration with sport activities with the SCIAC and the rehabilitation centre.
